Successful training course “Methodology for content teaching English”

After 5 weeks of active learning, the learners in the training course “Methodology for content teaching in English” were awarded the certificate on August 2nd, 2013. This course was jointly organized by VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB) and VNU University of Languages and International Studies (VNU-ULIS) to improve content teaching capacity in English for lecturers.

Attending the opening ceremony were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of VNU-UEB, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoa - Rector of VNU-ULIS, Dr. Ha Le Kim Anh - Head of Office of Academic Affairs VNU-ULIS.

After 60 lessons, learners were equipped with much knowledge, useful skills for their work, especially useful teaching method in English to learners. This year, the program was designed on the principle of enhancing applicability and increasing the practicability of lecturers. Beside teaching theory, learners had the opportunities to discuss in groups, practice teaching in class, improve the teaching skill in English through acceptance some comments of the members as well as sharing practical experience.

Not only program framework was innovated towards efficiency and effectiveness, enhancing practicability, the courshttp://ueb.vnu.edu.vn/newsdetail/tin%20DH/9443/tan-sinh-vien-truong-%C4%91hkt-khoa-qh2013e-da-nhap-hoc.htme was also seriously monitored and continuously improved through the result of learners’ opinion survey which was done weekly by VNU-UEB on teaching, organizing classroom, materials…

Overall, the survey showed the positive evaluation by the learners; after 5 weeks, their satisfaction is increasingly enhanced.

Congratulating on the learners who have completed the course, leaders of VNU-UEB and VNU-ULIS hoped that the transferred knowledge and skills would help learners improve the quality of their work. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of VNU-UEB expressed his cheerfulness for the success of the course, and hoped that the next joint activities between VNU-UEB and VNU-ULIS would be deployed efficiently, especially the dual degree programs.

“Teaching Knowledge Test” (TKT) was considered one of the prestigious certificates all over the world for English for lecturers that granted by Cambridge ESOL under Cambridge University (UK) - one of the most reputable universities, always ranked in the top 10 universities in the world.

In 2009, it was the first time that VNU-UEB and VNU-ULIS successfully co-organized the training course “Methodology for content teaching in English” oriented by TKT of Cambridge ESOL. This was the third year that the course was held. Beside the young lecturers who joint international standardized program (strategic mission program) and international joint training program, there were also lecturers from University of Agriculture, Academy of Journalism and Communication, Banking Academy, VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hai Phong University, Phu Tho University…
