CDIO is a system of methods and an accumulation of knowledge and skills in training students to meet the requirements of business and society. CDIO provides specific and comprehensive instructions on how to design an outcome-based training program, from curriculum to learning environments, as well as teaching and learning methods and assessment. Essentially, CDIO is a standard training procedure, based on the outcome to design and organize training programs (outcome-based). The core and basic values​​ of CDIO outcome are universal for many training programs, which derived from different learning outcomes. Therefore, training in the way of approaching CDIO is feasible to buildimproved training programs available at universities.
Based on the analysis of the nature and characteristics of the CDIO approaching method and practical application of CDIO at many universities around the world, the VNU University of Economics and Business has implemented and applied the method to improve the honor-training program of International Economics. Subjects involved in the program including students, alumni, entrepreneurs, managers, lecturers have been investigated and interviewed about the knowledge and skills that students of International Economics (honor training program) gained after graduation as well as about the program curriculum. Results of this project has contributed to the outcome-based standard for undergraduate honor program in International Economics and adjusted the curriculum to ensure students after graduation have the knowledge, skills and qualification consistent with the needs of society and succeed in the international environment.

About the authors:
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha is author and co-author of many books and implementing several state level research project. Especially, he has many articles published in major international science journals.
Dr. Vu Anh Dzung, Dean of the UEB’s Faculty of International Business and Economics, finished his doctorate degree at Cambridge University (the UK). He has spent his time to study international advanced models in managing and developing education, in which he is the pioneer in studying and applying CDIO model in economics and business training at VNU.
