Officers and lecturers of strategic mission training program meet

May 10th 2012, a meeting of lecturers and managers of strategic mission training program (SMTP) was held at VNU University of Economics and Business. The meeting was chaired by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - UEB Rector and received the participation of officers and lectures in charge of SMP classes.


To open the exchanging meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - UEB Rector emphasized SMTP is one of UEB’s key training programs, which is comprehensively invested in both human and material resources. Among 5 main targets of the program, the training of lecturers is vital that decides the success of the program. Therefore, he hoped that  the meeting would help the officials  and lecturers better understand it is  their responsibilities  to join the program in order to reach the set targets along with Executive Board, contributing to the  development of the UEB.

Afterward, Dr. Phan Chi Anh, Associate Dean of Faculty of Business Administration cum Director of UEB strategic mission training program had an overview on the program and its main targets, human resource situation, also the plan of developing program’s managers and lecturers. In particular, the major objectives of the program will primarily focus on strengthening the teaching and managing staff, improving activities including science and technology; modernizing curricula, studying materials, and teaching methods; testing and assessing facilities for training and scientific research; expanding and enhancing internal and external cooperation effectiveness, training and providing high-qualified human resources and materializing component projects (CPs) document system and building a complete data base of these CPs in accordance of VNU standard.
Taking part in the strategic mission training program, lecturers have been provided with sufficient information related to their authorities and liabilities on self-improvement in terms of teaching, doing research and other features.

After the speech by Dr. Phan Chi Anh, MSc. Tran Thi Hoang Yen - Deputy Head of Office of Human Resources has shared with the lecturers how to create a lecturer’s profile to make a self introduction of their capacity and ability, to recognize their career ladder and personal development, to create more information channels for UEB’s personnel decisions as well as reserving personal materials in scientific and modern mode and to be looked and used easily as needed.
During the discussion, the lecturers have shared about the difficulties in their teaching and discussed on training curriculum, suggestions for a better environment for students.
Responding to lecturers’ concern at the meeting, MA. Canh Chi Dung - Head of Office of Human Resources also emphasized the advantages of building a lecturer’s profile and understanding the responsibilities when taking part in the program.
Through the discussions at the meeting Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son concluded some following solutions to advance the program:

  • Office of Academic Affairs collaborate with the program managers to build an office to serve lecturers and students in UEB  campus.

  • It is necessary to conduct a survey of  training quality among students of the program.

  • Students should be divided into groups and supervised by lecturers to facilitate the learning and doing research. Therefore, they would get good study results, which help gain partners’ confidence and developing scholarships.

  • The program syllabus should be reviewed annually. Lecturers need to embed Vietnam’s practical knowledge in lectures to help students have a comprehensive view.

Closing the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son has expressed his thanks to officers and lecturers for their enthusiastic sharing and hoped that they would continue their contribution to make Business Administration training program become an international standard brand of the UEB.
