UEB’s students awarded Motivation to study scholarship in 2008

On 21st October 2008, Youth Newspaper and Vietnam National University, Hanoi jointly conducted the 2008 Motivation to study scholarship award ceremony where 62 existing university students and 36 new students from universities, colleges in Northern region were awarded scholarships. VNU had 33 students, of these, 3 students were from the University of Economics and Business - VNU.


They were:

1. Trinh Thi Chinh, QH-2008-E Faculty of Finance - Banking;

2. Trần Ngọc Khoi, QH-2008-E Faculty of Political Economics;

3. Phan Thị Nhan, QH-2008-E Faculty of International Economics.

Students who were in debt and achieved the highest possible score in the University entrance exam were awarded scholarships this term.  Each scholarship would award 4 million dong for each existing student and 5 million Vietnam Dong for new students.

Motivation to study is a future development program of Youth Newspaper. This activity has been held annually since 2003. In the year 2003 there were 25 scholars, with 3 million dong per student, the number of scholars has now risen to 1,400 with 4 million dong per existing student and 5 million for 43 new students who achieved the highest grade in the entry exam in 2008. Total value was nearly 6 billion dong. By the year 2008 Youth Newspaper’s scholar “Next to school” (encouraging students to be more active within their school) has been awarded to 2,919 students, brining the total amount awarded to 10.6 billion dong.

The ceremony held at University of Economics and Business was the last activity in this program for 2008, which followed ceremonies in Binh Dinh, Quang Tri, Quang nam, Tuyen Quang, Lam Dong, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh city, Nghe An and Hue provinces.

Attendees at the ceremony included Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dac Vinh - Secretary of Central Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh; Assoc.Prof.DrPhạm Trong Quat - Vice President of VNU;  Dr. Phung Khac Binh - Director of Students’ Work Union, Ministry of Education and Training; Duong Duc Da Trang - Chef of Representative Office of Youth Newspaper at Hanoi; Dr. Nguyen Thi Tuyet - Deputy Director of the Political and Students’ Work Union who delivered scholarship for students.
