For many young people, entering a university lecture hall is their first taste of independence, managing and taking responsibility for their own lives, including money. Not all students, however, are lucky enough to be equipped with basic money management skills at home, and the majority of pre-university education programs do not offer classes on the subject.

Thus, an autonomous living experience filled with numerous problems and temptations can become a "trap" for young students who lack life experience, prompting them to slip into financial and debt-related difficulties, a lack of future savings, a lack of an emergency fund, the inability to obtain insurance when needed, or even worse, fraud and undesirable behaviorOn the other hand, a student who develops early personal financial management skills can be proactive with his or her spending, since he or she is no longer under financial stress, resulting in increased relationship confidence, social interactions, and daily life. Even after they graduate and land their ideal career, that knowledge and abilities will accompany and effectively support this student in managing and stabilizing personal finances.

To assist students in their personal financial management journeys, the "Students' Financial Management Handbook" will discuss common financial challenges encountered by students and offer insight and advice on how to manage their finances. Financial principles for problem solving, important messaging, and activities applicable to each student's situation.
