VNU ranked 1059th in the list of Best Global Universities

On October 21st, 2019, the U.S. News & World Report released the Best Global University Rankings.


Two Vietnamese universities entered the list for the first time. Vietnam National Universtiy, Hanoi is ranked 1,059th, the highest in Vietnam, followed by Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City at No. 1176. In addition, according to the U.S. News & World Report, Ton Duc Thang University was also evaluated but has not been ranked.

 

Particularly, VNU-Hanoi was also listed at the 472nd place in the rankings of the Best Global Universities for Physics, up 30 places from the 502nd last year.

In Asia, the VNU-Hanoi stands at No.275 and the VNU-Ho Chi Minh City at No. 322.

This is the sixth time the US News & World Report has compiled the list.

This year, nearly 1,600 schools were evaluated, of which 1,500 were ranked, across 81 countries and territories. This is based on data provided by the Clarivate Analytics InCites.

The ranking was based on 13 indicators that measure the schools’ global and regional research reputation (through surveys) and academic research performance using data from Clarivate Analytics InCites. Only institutions that had met the minimum threshold of at least 1,500 papers published in 2013 to 2017 were evaluated. The scholars participating in the research evaluation are selected from the Web of Science database, including the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A & HCI).

On September 11th, 2019, Times Higher Education has released the World University Rankings 2020 at THE World Academic Summit in Zurich (Switzerland). Accordingly, for the first time the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and 2 other higher education institutions in Vietnam have been ranked by the THE along with nearly 1.400 leading universities worldwide. VNU along with Hanoi University of Science & Technology were ranked among the top 801-1000, followed by the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City in the top 1000+.

In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019, VNU has 3 groups of subjects in Physics and Astronomy, Computer Science and Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, and Aerospace and Manufacturing are ranked, in which Mechanical Engineering, Aviation and Manufacturing are in the group 451-500.

To date, VNU has appeared in most of the world's important rankings on higher education.
