Lecturers of UEB participating in the Global Forum “Financial Consumers”

Accepting the invitation of the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Van – Associate Dean of Faculty of Finance and Banking, VNU University of Economics and Business, participated in the Global Forum for Financial Consumers 2019.


The Global Forum on Financial Consumers 2019 is jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank Institute and the International Institute on Financial Consumers at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

This forum has been held annually since 2014. The goal of the forum is to help researchers, policy makers share knowledge, information and research on financial services around the world, on international regulatory principles, and consumer financial education in different countries. At the 2019 Forum, more than 100 speeches were presented in 3 main discussion sessions and more than 30 in-depth discussions with nearly 600 participants.

This year, the forum was attended by many famous researchers and planners in finance such as Dr. Peter Morgan from ADBI, Dr. Adele Akinson from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Developmentn (OECD), Dr. Sharon Tennyson from Cornell University, Indonesia Minister of Finance, etc.

Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Van presented the topic of Financial understanding and Financial consumers at the second main discussion session, at the Great Hall with the on the topic of Financial understanding and Financial consumers. The speech of Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Van, entitled "Measuring financial literacy and financial education experience for start-up households in Vietnam". Dr. Van said that the discussion was led by Prof. Sharon Tennyson and had received many questions of interest from the attendees.

Presenting at the Forum is an opportunity for lecturers from the UEB to share their financial training experiences in Vietnam, to compare the financial knowledge of people in Vietnam with the international counterparts, and to continue to promote research on personal finance in Vietnam. In addition, participating in the Forum also gave lecturers the chance to interact with and learn from leading researchers on financial and personal finance education around the world.
