This is an important recommendation given by the Rector of VNU University of Economics and Business, expert in the field of KPIs Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truc Le in the training course for managers at all levels of Hanoi Party Committee on 31st May 2019.

Attending the course, there were Mr. Vu Duc Bao - Head of Hanoi Party Committee; Mr. Tran Dinh Canh - Deputy Head of Organization Department, Hanoi Party Committee and over 100 managers of districts in Hanoi city.

With 17 years of experiences studying and working in Poland and the UK, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le is a leading expert in developing the KPIs (Key performance indicators) and modern planning methods. Previously, he presented the topics for VNU - Hanoi University of Science, University of Mining and Geology, Vietnam Airlines ...

During the course, he affirmed that any enterprises, organizations or school/universities needs to apply the KPIs to evaluate the staff capacity to prevent loss of resources. “In planning, it is imperative to identify the starting point and the ending point. It’s also important to divide into the key points, stages and each point must have certain results, also, the jobs must be assigned to qualified person to get the best results.” Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le said.

The application of modern methods in planning and implementing plans will closely monitor and assess the level of completion of the assigned plan in order to save resources and ensure that the work will be completed on time. Modern planning skills associated with strategy and balance card based on key indicators that measure the work efficiency of the plan have been discussed with participants.

In addition, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le also talked about the Pareto principle of 20 – 80. He pointed out that in any organization, it is necessary to identify 20% of core human resources, financial resources and key materials. This is a critical factor to conduct 80% of the plan's effectiveness. Reported products must be quantified by indicators and charts, gradually eliminating the obscure type of reporting such as "ongoing", "in progress”, “approximately”, "possible" etc.

Summarizing the lecture, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le gave some recommendations such as (1) Application of modern thinking and methods to build plans (2) Simplifying the complexity (3) Targets must be quantified (4) Mutual language in applying KPIs (5) Continuous monitoring of KPIs implementation (6) Simple reporting by charts and indicators.

At the end of the discussion, important information was given. VNU University of Economics and Business will coordinate with Hanoi Party Committee to provide free short-term courses to managers in districts to unify the KPIs language at all levels in Hanoi city.
