Two joint training programs to be opened by UEB and USSH

On January 16th, 2018, VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) in cooperation with VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) held two workshops on Interdisciplinary curriculums between the two universities: Master of Tourism Economics and Bachelor of Economics and Management at Hall 801.


The two workshops were co-chaired by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le - Rector of the UEB, and Assoc.Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Vice Rector of USSH. Those who attended the workshops were representatives of leaders of the two universities, leaders of offices and faculties as well as lecturers from UEB and USSH.

The workshops were also attended by scientists and specialists in the field of tourism, economics and management, which are representatives of employers.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le stated that the coordination between the two universities in developing interdisciplinary curriculums is the right direction, pioneering the task of opening new curriculums, in accordance with the development goals of the two universities and the mission of VNU. Also, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his wish that the two universities will not only cooperate closely in developing interdisciplinary curriculums but also coordinate well during the training processes after those programs are approved.

At the workshops, scientists and experts highly appreciated the VNU's policy on developing interdisciplinary curriculums that promote the strength and uniqueness of VNU as well as taking advantage of the resources of member units in VNU. Economics and Management at Bachelor's level and Tourism Economics at the Master's level which were chosen to be opened are suitable with the two universities, and they also meet the needs of the society. These programs were expected to be in need of high-quality human resources in the future. At the workshop, there were comments saying that interdisciplinary curriculums were meticulously designed, meeting the conditions to open new major codes under the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and VNU.

However, professional contents of the two universities should also be integrated in some modules in the curriculum framework instead of keeping those modules separately administered by each school in order to highlight the uniqueness of the curriculum, meet the needs of the society and be in accordance with the characteristics of Vietnam. At the end of the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan thanked lecturers, scientists and experts for their valuable comments. They are important basis for design teams to review the entire curriculum with the expectation that the two universities will have high-quality interdisciplinary curriculums. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan also asked curriculum design teams to acquire ideas in the workshop, cooperate with each other more closely, and complete the projects submitted to Vietnam National University for official acceptance at VNU level.
