Announcement Ceremony on establishment of the School of Business Administration

On 24th December 2016, VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) held a solemn ceremony to announce the establishment of the School of Business Administration (SBA).

Attending the ceremony, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; leaders of VNU’s offices and representatives of research institutions and faculty of business administration of universities in Hanoi, partners of the School of Business Administration, alumni, fellows, learners, students, former teachers as well as staff and lecturers of the School. From the UEB, there were management board, president of UEB Union, Secretary of the Youth Union and leaders of offices.

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of the UEB awarded the decisions on establishment of School of Business Administration, appointment of Director for Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Hai and Deputy Director for Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh.

Delivering speech at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son stressed: "The new autonomous mechanism provides only background for development. In order to promote strengths and fulfill its missions, the School should focus on the following activities: First, the School needs to achieve three criteria: Practicality, professionalism and high class. Practicality must be associated with the training, consultancy and research. Professionalism must be associated with all activities of the School, particularly training and research. High class should be created on the basis of quality, professionalism and practicality. Second, autonomy comes with responsibility and strength of the School is the strength of institutions, connection and cooperation among individuals in the school, among the school and other units of the University and other members of VNU. Third, attracting resources and training should always be regular work of the School, especially in the context of free movement of human resources ".

In his speech of taking the responsibility, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Hai said: "School of Business Administration has established the development orientation of providing business leaders with modern thinking and effective action. This is the core ideology and mindset throughout all activities of the School."

In the future, the School will focus on three key objectives: (1) Training: the School will focus on two core training program, including the high quality bachelor training program and master training program in strategic leadership. (2) Research: the School will promote practical research coherent with reality of businesses (3) Consultancy and technology transfer: Regarding businesses, the School will focus on strategic consulting projects. For local authorities, the School will consult on new rural construction projects through promotion of agricultural enterprises and spreading business knowledge to farmers.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - VNU’s President delivers speech to congratulate the School of Business Administration

On behalf of VNU’s Board of Presidents, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son appreciated the achievements that the Faculty of Business Administration had gained and affirmed the flourish development of the School in the coming future. "The size can be modest initially, but I firmly believe that the School of Business Administration will be successful and fulfill its mission." President of VNU said.

Also at the ceremony, the School of Business Administration introduced the advisory council of experts and entrepreneurs. On this occasion, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Hai signed the memorandum of cooperation with three enterprises, including Doji Jewelry, Corporation of Housing Investment and Urban Development - Ministry of Defense, Chu Dau Ceramics JSC.

School of Business Administration under VNU University of Economics and Business was established on the basis of upgrading the Faculty of Business Administration of the UEB.

This is the first training school, pioneering in Vietnam National University. The school has its own seal, bank accounts, having autonomous mechanism, self-responsibility, toward the trend of university autonomy and strategic development of UEB and Vietnam National University.
The structure of the School of Business Administration includes: Director and Deputy Director, Council for Science and Education, Advisory Council, departments and centers of the Institute.
