Cooperate with Swinburne University of Technology

On 23rd July 2015, delegations from Swinburne University of Technology (SUT), Australia had a working visit to the VNU University of Economics and Business. Leading the delegations was Ms. Marisa Furno, Head of Global Education Partnership, Dr. Adi Prananto from Faculty of Business and Law, and Ms. Bui Thi Huyen Nhu, Head of Swinburne University Office in Vietnam.



Working with Swinburne University, from the UEB, there were Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu, Vice Rector, Dr. Le Trung Thanh, Head of Research and Partnership Development; Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, Dean of Faculty of Economic Development; Dr. Pham Thi Lien, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Van, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Banking and Finance; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Viet Khoi, Faculty of International Business and Economics together with representatives of Center for Economic Development Studies.

Swinburne University of Technology has a century-long history, founded over 100 years ago. The university has over 30,000 full-time students and 7,000 international students from over 100 countries. Swinburne University has three campuses in Melbourne, Australia and Malaysia. Although this is the first official visit of Swinburne University’s representatives to the UEB, the two sides had a close relationship before, particularly in the implementation of the joint research project " Assessment of Impact and maximizing the benefits of FDI inflows to the local economic development of recipient countries' carried out in 2012-2014. Talking to leaders of the UEB, Ms. Marisa Furno appreciated the cooperation between the two universities through the deployment of the project.

In her presentation, Ms. Marisa proposed a number of cooperation activities with the UEB in the next phase, including construction of double degrees programs, Partnered-PhD Program, Global Leadership Program, Training the Trainer program as well as digging deeply on research topics of mutual interest.

Talking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet stressed the importance of funding attraction from external sources, which not only supports the project but also supports many exchange activities of faculty/student.

Ending the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu summarized the cooperation activities that can be soon applied. In the time coming, representatives of the UEB will take part in the conference at Swinburne and promote the discussed activities.
