The solemn atmosphere at the ceremony
At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - the UEB Rector has addressed the opening speech and drum to officially start the new school year 2014-2015. In his speech, the UEB Rector congratulated new students who have passed the challenging university entrance exam to become students of the university. Reviewing the 2014-2015 school year, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son stressed: “The last school year is a significantly important for the UEB when the whole staff and students of the university gave great effort in celebrating 40 years of tradition. Serving the purpose of in-depth developments towards a research university, the new school year is embedded in the theme “Creativity, discipline and professionalism”. I strongly believe that the collective unity, consensus and relentless effort of the university, we are going to fulfill the tasks set out.”

At the ceremony, the UEB leaders have granted the certificate of merit and other honorable awards to 21 students including three valedictorian in the 2014 university entrance examination, six students gained high academic results, six students actively contributed to activities of Communist Youth Union and six disadvantaged students who have good study performance.
On this occasion, the university was honored to receive the funding from corporations, businesses anf the UEB's partners including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK, Vietnamese Resources Group JSC, Insewa Group, Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), Lien Viet Post Bank, Saigon Commercial Bank (Sacombank), the Hanoi Trade Corporation (Hapro), S-Link Vietnam, VNDirect Securities Corporation, etc. The total amount of funding is counted up to 332 million VND and 25 portions of scholarships.

On behalf of first years students of QH-2014-E intake, Nguyen Thanh Trung said: “I am personally, as well as all the new students, very proud of and excited to have the opportunity to study at a prestigious university like the UEB. I promise to give my best effort to study and practice in response to the belief and expectation of our parents and lecturers. I hope to contribute my humble part in enhancing the prestige of the University of Economics and Business, deserving to be one of the leading universities of the country.”
The 2014-2015 school year has started. The UEB is expected to fulfill its tasks with the unity of the whole university, the creative and flexible leadership and the collective determination of its staff and students.
