UEB Rector talks at new students’ orientation week

On 5th September, 2014, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB) had an interesting meeting with freshman students of QH-2014-E intake within the framework of the orientation week 2014.


At the meeting, UEB’s Rector introduced first-year students with the history, missions, visions, core-values of the UEB and its target to become a research-oriented university. Exciting scientific research activities of lecturers, staff and students together with training activities focusing on quality and international standards, etc are the key points mentioned by the Rector.
Particularly, UEB’s lecturers that have high qualifications (73% of whom have PhD degree), mostly graduated from advanced at  universities over the world and have many working experience in well-known enterprises will provide students with updated and useful knowledge as well as practical experiences.
Additionally, the Rector also introduced the first-year students about opportunities for acquiring soft skills, exchange activities and meeting with experts at conferences or seminars and domestic and international students; as well as participating in cultural - sport activities… which all students will experience during their 4 academic years at UEB.

Especially, the Rector spent plenty of time for freshmen to share their own opinions about why to choose UEB as their further studying destination. Most of freshman had common viewpoints that UEB is under Vietnam National University, Hanoi - one of the biggest universities in Vietnam ,which plays an important role in Vietnam’s education system; in which, the training quality is ranked at the top nationwide, students have chances to attend duel-degree programs, interesting extracurricular and voluntary activities…

Also at the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son presented UEB’s notable achievements contributing to socio-economic development of the country, together with typical photos of extracurricular activities of EUB’s students previous years. Congratulating UEB’s freshman, the Rector expressed his desire that all freshers will quickly adapt to a new environment of UEB.
The meeting was in the framework of the initial welcome week of UEB’s students for the academic year 2014 - 2015, from 4th to 5th September, 2014. UEB’s students in general and freshman in particular had also chances to listen to various topics such as: news in the training regulations, student activities of UEB; orientations, missions for the academic year 2014 - 2015; propaganda contents of education, maritime sovereignty, transportation safety and social evil prevention and fighting.
As scheduled, on the morning of 18th September, 2014, VNU University of Economics and Business will organize the opening ceremony of the new academic year 2014 - 2015 in Nguyen Van Dao Meeting Hall, VNU, 144 Xuan Thuy, Cau Giay, Hanoi.
